Sampling - Quantity

It is important that you submit the correct amount of a sample. This reduces the chance of delaying the analysis and increases the speed with which you receive the results.

Minimum laboratory sample size according to EU Directive 2002/63/EC:

  • Small fresh produce, <25 g, e.g. berries, peas, olives 1 kg
  • Medium fresh produce, 25-250 g, e.g. apples, Citrus, loose tomatoes 1 kg and at least 10 units
  • Large fresh produce, >250 g, e.g. cabbage, cucumber, bunch of grapes 2 kg and at least 5 units
  • Cereals and nuts, e.g. rice, wheat 1 kg
  • Tea 0.2 kg

Minimum laboratory sample size, other products:

  • Water 1 liter in a glass bottle
  • Leaf 0.25 kg, at least 10 leaves
  • Soil/substrate 1 kg
