Why the self-checking system Good & Green?
Do you want to demonstrate that your company operates food safely and takes quality seriously? With the self-checking system Good & Green you show customers, employees and supervisors that your processes are in order.
In its supervision, the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) takes into account companies that perform demonstrably well. That gives confidence and clarity.
Two annual hygiene inspections
When you participate in the self-checking system, you will receive two unannounced hygiene inspections annually. During these inspections our inspectors assess all aspects of the applicable hygiene code.
You get a clear overview of your performance in the field of food safety and quality control. So you know exactly where you stand and what improvements can be made.
Three requirements
The NVWA sets three requirements to participate in the self-inspection system:
- Your company works entirely according to an approved hygiene code and does not have its own HACCP plan or supplement.
- Your company does not have EC accreditation.
- Your company supplies more than 50 percent directly to consumers.
If you participate in the self-checking system, you show your employees and customers that you are distinctive in terms of quality and food safety. It is possible to participate both as an individual company or as a formula company.
Safeguarding food safety structurally
Participation helps you to structurally ensure food safety and distinguish yourself within your industry. You work continuously on improvement and show that you take responsibility.
Concrete benefits for you
- You increase the chance of adapted supervision by the NVWA.
- You get objective insight into food safety and quality
- You show demonstrable professionalism towards customers
- You stimulate continuous improvement within your organization
- You strengthen trust among employees and stakeholders
Expertise and reliability in inspections
Our inspectors combine up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations with extensive practical experience. They know exactly where risks can arise and how you can improve processes in practice. As a result, you receive advice that is directly applicable within your daily work.
Unannounced hygiene inspection
After registering for the self-monitoring system, inspectors conduct an initial unannounced hygiene inspection at your facility. This is a full inspection where everything is checked, including sampling.
During this inspection, the results of previous inspections are not included. So it is a blank start. Does your company achieve a score of eighty percent or higher? Then the inspectors conduct an unannounced follow-up inspection within six months.
A strong foundation for the future
The self-inspection system is not a snapshot, but a continuous improvement process. Regular unannounced inspections keep you on your toes and prevent surprises. This is how you build a future-proof organization in which food safety and quality are central.
