World Premix gains customer confidence thanks to feed and water analyses
Harm can be found in farmers' barns every day to position World Premix 's products as well as possible: "I check the application of our products and I give farmers advice. Taking feed samples is an important part of this. We have dry feed and liquid feed samples checked at Normec Robalab in Deurne, where we test for, among other things: yeasts and fungi, dry matter, crude protein, pH, iron, magnesium, toxins, etc. Based on these results, we provide our customers with substantiated advice. I always visit personally to discuss the results of the analysis. With our solutions, we really want to help our customers. We always focus on the most efficient solution to achieve the best result, at the best price. This is how we gain trust and build a lasting cooperation."
About World Premix
World Premix has a long and rich history, of already three generations, in pig farming. In 1938 Cor van der Steijn founded his own pig feed company, which was continued and expanded by his son Henk. Since 2017, Paul van der Steijn continues the philosophy of his father and grandfather under the name of World Premix. World Premix is the knowledge partner for supplying premixes, concentrates and complete feeds for pig farming with tailor-made farm guidance. Feed analyses increasingly important
Since World Premix has started to focus more on selling premixes for pig feed, feed analyses have become even more important. As a result, cooperation with Normec Robalab has intensified. They sell premixes to farmers who make their own feed. Unlike supplying complete feeds, they then have less control over the final product. "If there are problems, such as low appetite or intestinal complaints in the pigs, there is a reason to take a feed sample. This way we look together at the cause of the problem and find a solution," Harm says.
Keeping costs down together
Harm explains: "The cost of the analyses must of course outweigh the benefits. When a new customer starts with us, it is very important for us to check right at the start whether the actual feed values are in line with what we have counted out. By investigating this at the start, you ensure that you are in close touch with the situation and can make adjustments immediately where necessary."
Water research
It is important for the pigs to get both water and feed of the best quality. If there are problems that cannot be seen with the naked eye, performing a water analysis adds a lot of value. Harm explains, "With some customers, we perform a water analysis in addition to the feed analysis. How do we ensure together that the intake in the animals is optimal? Doing water analysis is especially important when a farmer has his own water source. For us it is ideal that we also have our water samples analyzed at Normec Robalab."

Pleasant collaboration
Harm talks enthusiastically about the cooperation with Normec Robalab. "Mario Willems is our regular contact person and the contact is always good. Mario and I even know each other from before, when he was an employee at a company of a customer of ours. Moreover, the laboratory in Deurne is only three kilometers from our headquarters, which is ideal. The frequency with which we bring samples varies; sometimes we bring a few a week, sometimes none for a week. There has to be a reason for us to have the feed tested. However, this is never a problem. They are very flexible and they know how to find us when there is something. The colleagues at the reception of the laboratory are always there for us and there is a nice atmosphere. The process is also very orderly: we supply samples, the experts at Normec Robalab get to work on the analyses and we receive a clear report with the results."
The future
Currently, World Premix is active in several countries within Europe: the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Romania and Italy. Not to mention in China. "In all these countries there are still great opportunities for growth. I always say this: we don't get to more places than we do. That shows what potential there is. Thanks to the results of the feed analyses, we have an advantage over our competitors in the market. Because this way we are on top of the results, have quick insight and can switch. Consider, for example, antibiotic-free production. As our company continues to grow, our partnership with Normec Robalab grows with it. The more customers we have, the more feed analyses we need to have performed."
