What benefits does the inspection module offer Aviko?
By using the Inspection Software, Aviko has achieved a 50% reduction in the time required to conduct inspections and audits. The Corporate QA-QC Manager at Aviko explains:
“Conducting the audit using an iPad with an integrated camera and an on-screen checklist facilitates the efficient execution of inspections and audits. Thanks to the synchronization between the iPad and the online inspection module, a report is automatically generated that includes not only a complete record of individual inspection points but also a summary of the audit listing the nonconformities and photos. Previously, this reporting was a rather time-consuming task, and a separate system was used to track action items from internal audits. Furthermore, situations where nonconformities were documented using pen, paper, and a handheld camera are now a thing of the past.”
Nonconformities and actions resulting from inspections and audits are displayed in the central overviews within the application. “The actions and their status are thus transparent to stakeholders at all locations, which also helps improve the quality of resolution. In addition, statistics are used as input for the annual verification and continuous improvement within the company,” says the Corporate QA-QC Manager.
How is the application integrated within Aviko?
Aviko has been using the inspection module for quite some time. The application can be configured flexibly, allowing every customer—including Aviko—to use it with specific settings such as locations, departments, permissions, users, and templates. Since every company also has different requirements regarding functionality, Normec Foodcare Online allocates an annual budget for the further development of existing modules. This allows customer-specific requirements to be implemented based on prioritization. The Corporate QA-QC Manager explains:
“Together with Normec Foodcare Online, we examined how the module is used within Aviko, after which we identified areas for improvement and specific needs. From this, we compiled an action list to implement various modifications. The ongoing collaboration, featuring jointly agreed-upon improvement initiatives, has resulted in a structure and layout of the application that makes sense for Aviko. This collaboration and Normec Foodcare Online’s willingness to implement changes to the application at the customer’s request are extremely valuable to Aviko. It instills confidence in the future with a system that continues to evolve.”
Inspections using the iPad are conducted by quality assurance staff at all locations in the Netherlands. “Our quality assurance staff find conducting audits with an iPad to be pleasant, efficient, and a logical, forward-looking improvement. The automatically generated reports and the process for handling corrective actions ensure standardization and acceptance within Aviko. The module is tailored to the need to digitize inspections and audits in accordance with the plan-do-check-act methodology. It offers us a clear structure that is easy to implement,” says the Corporate QA-QC Manager. “With the online QA software, it’s easier to combine audits so they can be scheduled and conducted simultaneously. In fact, the system can be used for all inspections, provided they can be conducted using a standardized checklist,” concludes the Corporate QA-QC Manager.
