A New Digital Direction

Digital solutions are playing an increasingly important role within Normec. That is why the software activities have been consolidated within the Digital Products service line. Within this organization, product, development, and support teams are working together on the further development of Normec Foodcare Online and QC One.

Joris Jansen has been appointed Managing Director of Digital Products. In this role, he will work with the relevant teams to further develop the software products and support customers in their quality and compliance processes. The new organization ensures greater focus, additional investments, and a clear long-term vision for the software products.

A Modern Foundation for Further Development

In recent months, the company has invested in a completely new platform and modern technology. This creates a foundation upon which further development can be built in the coming years. The new foundation makes it possible to innovate more quickly, better respond to customer needs, and gradually roll out new features.

The renewal is not just technical. Ease of use, performance, and a consistent user experience are also receiving special attention. For example, the platform is designed to support quality and compliance professionals in clearly recording, managing, and tracking information and actions.

First updated modules are available

The first results of the update are now visible. The updated Manual Module, Registration Module, and Action Module are available and are being used by the first customers.

Among other things, the modules offer:

  • a more modern look;
  • greater ease of use;
  • better performance;
  • a more intuitive user experience;
  • a solid foundation for future expansions.

In addition, the phased migration of customers to the new environment has begun. By implementing the transition in stages, each migration can be carefully managed. Customers will be informed of this in a timely manner. Organizations that wish to make the switch sooner can contact Normec Foodcare Online.

What can users expect in the coming period?

In the coming period, the Normec Foodcare Online modules will be gradually updated and made available on the new platform. Among other things, users can expect the following in the coming period:

  • updated versions of existing modules;
  • smarter features and AI support;
  • more integration options with external systems;
  • further automation of processes;
  • new features based on customer feedback;
  • a platform that continues to evolve alongside the needs of the food industry.

With each release, we are working toward a single integrated quality platform for quality management, compliance, and food safety. New features are added step by step, allowing organizations to prepare systematically for changes within their digital quality processes.

Development Based on Everyday Practice

Customer requests, feedback, and ideas play a key role in determining priorities and future features. Normec Foodcare Online therefore continues to keep users informed about new modules, innovations, and migrations through newsletters and product updates.

This approach gives customers insight into the platform’s direction and upcoming improvements. At the same time, it leaves room to incorporate real-world experiences into further development.

Building Together

With the revamped platform, Normec Foodcare Online is laying the foundation for the further digitization of quality and compliance processes in the food sector. The first modules are live, the migration has begun, and new innovations will follow step by step in the coming period.

How do you know if consumers accept your sugar reduction or protein fortification?

Consumers are looking for healthier, protein-rich, and more sustainable products, but they still base their choices primarily on taste and sensory experience. That makes reformulation complex. Sugar, for example, affects more than just sweetness; it can also alter texture, mouthfeel, and body. Added protein can be nutritionally beneficial, but it can sometimes result in a drier texture or an unusual aftertaste. A similar risk applies to fat reduction, clean label initiatives, and other formulation adjustments.

The PPWR now applies: what does this mean for your packaging?

The European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) has applied since 12 August 2026. This marks the start of an important new phase for every organisation that manufactures, imports, uses or places packaging on the European market. The Regulation introduces stricter requirements covering substances of concern, recyclability, material use, reuse and the evidence needed to demonstrate compliance. For food businesses, this is no longer a distant development. The first obligations already apply, with further requirements being introduced in phases over the coming years. It is therefore essential to understand your packaging portfolio and determine in good time where changes are needed.
