Knowledge event Environmental analyses
On February 20, the first event took place at Normec OWS in Ghent, also the new location of Normec QA in Belgium. During a tour of the Normec OWS laboratory, our customers discovered all about research on biodegradation and compostability. As of March 2025, Belgian food companies are required to draw up a monitoring plan for environmental pathogens according to the GM4 autocontrol module. This plan, based on a detailed risk analysis, determines which analyses are needed, where they should take place and how often. Aldo Evers and Grietje Van Weert provided a clear roadmap and discussed the analysis methods. After the break, Fréderique Henderickx (Normec QA BE) shared her expertise on the pitfalls of labeling. The questions showed that customers still need a lot of support in preparing labels.
Knowledge Event Allergen Management
On March 13, Normec Groen Agro Control was the host. Stefan Broch gave an overview of Normec Groen Agro Control's various activities and projects, followed by a fascinating tour of the lab, supported by Prechand Jankie. After lunch, the focus was on allergen management and the new Dutch policy on PAL (Precautionary Allergen Labeling). Marjan van Ravenhorst (Allergen Consultancy) gave an introduction about the policy, its history and the differences within Europe. Eva Pont (Normec Foodcontrol) elaborated on the analysis possibilities. The day ended with a hands-on session by Tamara Kee (Normec QA NL) and Krista Baar (Normec Label & Specifications). A special thanks to Krista, who despite recent surgery of her broken foot was present to share her knowledge with the customers.
Pool water knowledge event
And a new knowledge event is already on the agenda! On Tuesday, April 1, 2025 together with Normec Kalsbeek and the experts of Hellebrekers we will dive into the latest techniques and guidelines for optimal pool water quality. The analyses will be performed by Normec Dumea. Since Jan. 1, 2024, regulations for swimming facilities in the Netherlands have changed with the introduction of the Environment Act. From 2025, environmental services will enforce these rules and swimming pools that do not comply risk closure.
